Default I feel like an idiot for asking this.

I'm looking at/for some wheels for the 240 but I don't know much about offsets and all that crap. It's lowered in the front, but I'm not exactly sure how much...and has stock springs on the back. Can somebody give me some pointers?

16x8 +15 all around. you will need about 2-3 degrees of camber all around.

with a stock body 240, you don't need to worry about negative offset, you're still gonna be in the +'s until you have overfenders of some kind.

I'm pretty sure you can fit 9.5 or 10 wide with a +40-ish? Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that. I'm no expert. My old Rays wheels were more like 240 offsets, so I sold them to a guy with a 240. =p iirc, they were like +40 and 8.5 and 9.5.

those offsets are too high imo. less than 30 on a 240, though it does vary depending on the width of the wheel.

you will be fine with 8.5 wide in front with a +35 and 9.5 in the rear with a +35.

i know for sure.....i had 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 with a +35 and sold them to my buddy with a 93 240 and they fit perfect.....

holy crap there's a lot of misinformation in this thread. If you don't know what to get, play it safe. Find someones setup (size/offset/tire) you like and copy it as close as you can. You do sometimes have to worry about shock clearance up front if you go too wide/high offset. and btw, you certainly don't need -2 or 3* of camber to fit 8" +15 wheels even with an s13.

no incorrect info here.....these are 8.5 front w/ +35 and 9.5 w/ +35 in the rear....perfect camber and fit perfectly. 255 35 18 tires in the rear. clears the fenders(front and rear) without rolling. hits absolutely nothing in the wheel well even when fully maxed turning right or left. the car has been lowered 2" also. anything else i can help you with?

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types.

    Zero Offset
The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.

    Positive
The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars.

    Negative
The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset.

If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected. When the width of the wheel changes, the offset also changes numerically. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width, the additional width would be split evenly between the inside and outside. For most cars, this won't work correctly. We have test fitted thousands of different vehicles for proper fitment. Our extensive database allows our sales staff to offer you the perfect fit for your vehicle.

    From this thread: http://importsnc.com/forums/ask-ques...sets-work.html

On "+" and "-": Now lets take a stock S14 SE Alloy

    6.5" width, +40 offset:

    Wheel is 6.5" wide (165.1mm)

If the wheel was +0 offset the hub mating surface would be right at the centerline (middle of the wheel), meaning: 82.55mm would be on either side of the mating surface.

Since the wheel is +40 it means the hub mating surface is pushed out 40mm. So 42.55mm is on the face side out / and 122.55mm is on the mating side in.

...did that make any sense? I'm not sure if I explained it effectively enough.

That's not going to happen. Not only would that sink the wheels, but it would rub like an affectionate cat on his suspension.

I'm thinking he means to tuck the tread. 8" +25 is about hella flush.

Sport Max makes a lot of wheels for the 240sx, fits on there perfect without any issue.

    Sport Max Wheels

    18 x 7.5 (+42mm) 4 x 100 / 4.50 <------- easy fit on the front

    18 x 8.5 (+35mm) 4 x 100 / 4.50 <------- needs coilovers to clear the front wheels

    18 x 9.5 (+35mm) 4 x 100 / 4.50 <------- fits perfectly on the rear

We run these wheels on our 240sx, so if you got any questions.... just give me a call. Thanks. -Nam (919) 828-1722

i am not gonna be a dick and say WRONG.....

but i will restate what i said previously.....the picture of the s13 i posted up there somewhere....has 18x8.5 with a +35 offset in the front and 18x9.5 with a +35 offset in the rear....

it has lowering springs....not coilovers....and doesnt rub one bit in the front....even when turning.

8.5 in the front with a +35 offset is perfectly flush....period...the proof is in the pics

That does make since. Though I had a similar set up using 350Z Track 18"s on my S13 and bumped and rubbed something awful. So from personal experience that 18" thing didn't work.

that's because 350z uses lower offset wheels. The 18 track wheels info are...

    Front
    Size: 18x8.0
    Offset: +30mm

    Rear
    Size: 18x8.5
    Offset: +33mm

    I'm not saying you are.

The car doesn't look as low as I was when I had the 18"s on either. I couldn't get a finger between my rear 1/4 arch and the tire. I look like I could fit about 3 fingers in that cars gap.
