    Default Dome light problem

Dome light doesn't illuminate in either on/door position... Ok to start off, bulb replaced, connections look good, fuses good. Without ripping apart the headliner to find a possible broken wire or a short does anyone know of a quick solution to this problem? This has me scratching my head and trying to avoid extra tedious work..

Do you have an aftermarket head unit?

    Check for blown fuses.

It sounds like you have a blown fuse.

Then clean out your door triggers.

fuses are fine, i'll check the door triggers but it still doesn't even turn on when the switch is in the on position, not just the door trigger position. Which is why i was thinking wiring, if it wasn't grounded the connection would always be closed and the light would stay on. If it was grounded properly when the switch is flipped the connection would open and it would turn off. I'm just hoping that it's not the actual dome light housing itself that is bad. I'm looking for something besides the obvious because i've already checked the obvious, just wondering if there was someone out there who might have come in contact with a problem like this and what would be the unlikely answer that i'm just not pinpointing here.

ok so after a little more extensive testing i'm finding that i would indeed have to remove the headliner to wire chase a few things, thank you to all who gave advice for this problem.
