Low oil level causing rev cut-off?
Would having a low oil lever cause the revs to cut-off before they should? Say if the car is supposed to rev to 8k rpm, but it cuts off at lik 7k. Pretty much like it is hitting a brick wall.

Nah. I'd guess MAF ovverun, fuel cut, plugs (iridiums) blowing out...something like that. Low oil will just trsh your motor, that's all.

Ok, well... it's not my car anymore. I'm trying to help the guy out that has my old EF. Right before I traded it, the revs would cut off at 7.5, then a week or so later it was at 7, and I just talked to him and he says it's at 6 now.
I know that vtec takes a certain oil level in order to "kick in yo".
Also, negative on the iridiums.
So, ground, fuel cut <--feels like this could be it, but why?

When oil is running low your car will start to overheat... Just check oil level, change the oil if you must and see if the problem occurs.. it isn't that hard to pull the dip stick.. Sounds like a map sensor problem

sounds like the problem my da had at the start except after riding a while it was cutting at like 3 or 4k.....it was my fuel pump....which turned into a nasty gas tank too that was replaced.....pretty much wasted a brand new fuel filter to replace it a week later ha....

I've seen crank postion sensors do that on GM cars right before they go out.

i was also going to suggest an ignition problem...
usually rev problems are due to faulty ignition systems.. after all that is what the rev limiter controlls
